Some years ago the excavations were conducted in the cathedral in Frombork and Nicolaus Copernicus remains were found. What is more, scientists were engaged in research to find out if remains actually belonged to Nicolaus Copernicus. Only after the positive findings his solemnly burial was scheduled for the 22nd of May 2010.
Nicolaus Copernicus was a canon of Varmian Chapter. Besides this, he spent his whole adult life in Varmia. Canons lived generally in Frombork. They left the city only when they got others tasks. Canons were generally buried at their altars in the cathedral in Frombork. And so was Nicolaus Copernicus.Nicolaus Copernicus will be solemnly buried on the 22nd of May 2010. In this year, there is also the 750th anniversary of Varmian Chapter foundation and the 700th anniversary of the city of Frombork foundation.
