Festival climate

Actively

Music festivals which are regularly organised in some towns of Varmia and Masuria will help you feel the soothing effect of music. The greatest artistic impressions are to be found in the sounds of church music. Sacred places which have been resounding with splendid organ music for a couple of centuries include the Frombork cathedral (since 1684), the Olsztyn cathedral (since the second half of the 19th century), as well as the Evangelical church in Giżycko, where the festival of organ and chamber music has been attracting music lovers for several decades now. The most unforgettable emotions , however, evokes the organ music absorbed in the beautiful Baroque interior of the church in Święta Lipka, whose organ dates back to1720. Traditional jazz lovers cannot miss the event which takes place every August in Iława, in the Louis Armstrong amphitheatre, which is picturesquely located by the lake Jeziorak – the International Festival of Traditional Jazz OLD JAZZ MEETING “Złota Tarka”. The festival undoubtedly owes its splendour to the most renowned jazz musicians from Poland and abroad who come to Iława year by year with great enthusiasm. All roads lead to Mragowo, as it is wildly believed in our region, more precisely to the amphitheatre by the lake Czos, where country music lovers come every summer to take part in an amazing musical feast. The same place attracts hordes of people to the Festival Of Frontier Culture, founded on the initiative of Vilnius and the Vilnius region lovers. Every year the festival organizers invite Polish bands from Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine, which greatly contributes to the wonderful atmosphere of reunion of Polish citizens from Poland and abroad.
