The Warmian-Masurian Regional Tourist Organization

In January 2003, The Warmian-Masurian Regional Tourist Organization was registered in the National Court Register. Its effective activities started on 1 July 2003 with the creation of the Office based on the Tourism and Regional Promotion Department of the Marshal’s Office. The status of the Warmian-Masurian Regional Tourist Organization is that of an association, accepting as members both natural and legal persons. It was created due to changes in the system of tourism management. Taking into account the positive experiences of countries with a developed tourist economy, it was decided that: at a national level the tasks of the national tourist organization would be carried out by the Polish Tourist Organization in Warsaw; at a provincial level by the relevant Regional Tourist Organization; while at a local level by their local equivalents. With the creation of the Warmian-Masurian Regional Tourist Organization the Provincial Tourist Information Centre as well as its tasks related to tourist promotion were transferred to the new organization by the Marshal’s Office of the Warmia-Masuria province.
Today, members of the Warmian-Masurian Regional Tourist Organization include the local government of the Warmia-Masuria province, as well as chambers of commerce and associations whose activities are related to tourism.

Aims of the Warmian-Masurian Regional Tourist Organization:

  • raising funds for tourist development
  • developing the region’s image as an attractive tourist region
  • promoting cooperation between companies dealing with tourism and public institutions, including the Polish Tourist Organization

These aims will be realized by:

  • publishing activities – promotional and commercial publications
  • promoting the region both in the Polish market and abroad
  • running the Provincial Tourist Information Centre
  • organizing and participating in promotional events
  • coordinating tourism-related activities in the region
